Parquet Flooring
Parquet flooring has been a popular option for flooring in Singapore, especially for bedrooms. Parquet floors can come with unique layouts and patterns, giving you room a feeling of warmth and aesthetic appeal. There are a variety of shades available to match the tone of your interior design. Darker shades of parquet contain subtle tones that bring a quiet and rich appeal to your room. Lighter shades can complement country or Scandinavian style by lending a welcoming and homey atmosphere. In general, the richness of parquet has a classic quality that makes it a good match for the overall design of your home by offering timeless elegance.
Burmese & Indonesian teak
There are generally two kinds of parquet available in Singapore, namely Burmese and Indonesian parquet. The main difference between the two is that Burmese teak are generally older and therefore has a richer and darker tone. Indonesian teak is generally of a younger age and look relatively lighter in shade. Cost-wise, Burmese teak is more expensive than Indonesian teak. It is also interesting to note that Burmese teak turns darker with age without losing its texture or beauty.

Properties of parquet
Parquet, being of natural teak, ages naturally and gracefully. It offers warmth to the foot and has sound acoustic properties compared to natural stones like marble.
Parquet is generally very durable, although it can be scratched over time if you drag heavy objects or furniture over it. However, it can be sanded down and varnished to give it a brand new look.
Sanding and varnishing
Parquet floors need maintenance over time to revive it, especially if the surface has suffered from scratches. To restore your parquet floor to its original condition, it will have to be sanded and varnished. Sanding the floor surface will remove all existing scratches, marks, dents and damaged areas to reveal the raw finish. Following which, we will start to varnish the surface. Varnish is a protective transparent finish that will form a protective layer over your existing parquet. Your parquet floor will be ready to shine again, just like brand new!
